2022 was a great year for Þúfur team!
Skagafjörður’s Horse Breeding Association (HSS) threw a prize ceremony on December 13th. Prizes were awarded for the top three breeding horses in each age group, as well as breeding rider and breeding farm.
Þúfur was awarded with the Ófeigur Cup as the breeding farm of the year in Skagafjörður but others nominated were Hestklettur and Hólaskóli (Hólar). We are especially honoured to receive this award now for the 4th time, as a horse can never count twice for a breeding farm. Last time we received this honour it was in 2020 and 2019 and no horse that counted then, counted for this year.
Lýsing frá Þúfum, Grýla frá Þúfum and Píla frá Syðra-Garðshorni, who received honorary prize for their offsprings this year, were awarded as well.
The Sörli Cup was awarded to the overall highest judged breeding horse within HSS which was Hannibal frá Þúfum who received 8.68 in total this year and is the highest evaluated 4-gaited stallion in Iceland.
Mette was also nominated as a breeding rider of the year, among Bjarni Jónasson and Þórarinn Eymundsson, who was awarded the prize. Congratulations Þórarinn!
