Stole our hearts from the start

List stole our hearts already as a youngster. The elegant way she would walk up to you, look you in the eye and join you, walking beside you, was charming. The light footed elegant very fine mare was a dream come true. Being an offspring of our favorite horses Lygna and Trymbill, and a filly. Then we can only hope for the best and try our best when she is started.

Is she filled with Helium?
Gísli and Mette cooperated with the starting. List was calm to be around but rather lively when working. The emphasis was put on taking things rather slowly and teaching her to move slow. And she was so much fun. Chose most trot from the start but often rolled into tölt so the “töltsetting” came as a natural consequence of understanding the aids better. Need I say she was light? Sooo light! Everything about her was light, the way she placed her feet on the ground. I sometimes wondered if she was not coming when I led her behind me. I could almost not hear her footsteps.

Breeding evaluation
List was shown as a five-year-old. I tried pace in the spring, and it seemed easy and natural. So, I left it. During spring she gained more speed in tölt. Just before the breeding show I checked the pace again. And it was not there. But the other gaits were amazing, so I just showed her as a fourgaiter. The trot was not much trained, it was always very good and just there if I wanted. I rode the trot mostly calm and relaxed working trot inside or I rode short distances but quite powerful trot outside. On Landsmót I had a really good time on the track. It was wonderful, everything so light and easy. I just smiled, which is not normal for me during a show! After I got off, I thought, “I actually don´t care what she gets. This was just amazing.” But it was rewarded, with 9,5 for tölt, trot, spirit and general impression, and not least the Landsmót feather prize from the Trainers Association FT.

Competition career and offspring
We kept List under saddle for some years. As we had the opportunity to make embryo transfer at the time, so she still had some offspring.
She became Mette´s competition horse. With great success in Tölt T1 and Gæðingakeppni B-flokkur(that is for four-gaiters). 2020 List had the highest B-flokkur score in the world with 8.96 in preliminaries and 9.14 in the finals.
All throughout her career she kept the lightness and good mood. We think the combination of a very good back, a well-set neck, a light head and good schwung in her body in addition to the cheerfulness of her temperament made this lightness. Her last season 2021 she scored 8.17 in preliminaries and 8.22 in finals in T1 at the Icelandic championship. And it always felt easy.
Her first two offspring have already been judged. They are the twins Tími and Klukka. They both have an especially high backline making them very uphill to sit on. Klukka was shown at last Landsmót 5 years old. She has an outstanding trot. In common, all her offspring have the contact seeking nature of List herself.
